Adventure Theatre Teaching Staff

 

Kathryn Hnatio (Education and Outreach Director, Summer Musical Theatre Workshop Artistic Director). Kathryn brings with her a career in music, performance and directing combined with her extensive work as a theater educator to Adventure Theatre’s Education Program. Having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater from Frostburg State University and a Masters of Arts in Educational Theater from New York University , Kathryn has established a strong reputation as an educator and developed and implemented educational curricula for such reputable programs as The Ensemble School, The Free Shakespeare Project and California University of PA’s CalRep Summer Program, among others.

  Camilla Morrison is a theatre artist who is based in the DC Area. Most recent Stage Management Credits include: Hope Operas 2011, Rock Bottom: A Rock Opus, Science Fiction Double Feature and Landless Theatre Company’s Mash-Up Festival Part 2. She graduated from Salisbury University with a BA in Theatre and Art, where she worked in all aspects of theatre, including directing Charles Mee’s Big Love, and Costume Design for children’s theatre productions such as Alice in Wonderland, Stocking Stuffers, and Dragons. Before coming to Adventure Theatre in 2010, Camilla followed in the footsteps of Steven Sondheim and Mary Rodgers Guettel by completing a residential internship at the Westport Country Playhouse in Westport, CT. During the day, Camilla works at Adventure Theatre as the Administrative/Box Office Manager.
  Danny Pushkin has an avowed love for physical comedy. He spent recent summers teaching Drama at Barrie Day Camp, and has been known to teach an elementary school-aged session or two for Synetic Theater, where he is also an Associate Company Member. Safety First! Physicalized performance is a passion, whether it be the great traditions of Mumming, Mime, or simply honest delivery. The quest to become the best Fool one can be is an enduring and rewarding one. In the last decade Danny has often been immersed in joyous musicals, as well as theater for young audiences, bringing boundless energy to the task of entertaining and exciting willing audiences, and their frowny-faced companions. Danny is a Resident Artist at Adventure Theater, where he has performed in a great deal of wonderful productions, most recently Charlotte’s Web.
 

Mary Sugar spent 11 years as a musical director, pianist, and teacher in New York City, where she worked on and off-Broadway, at Lincoln Center, and in many other venues. She went around the world as conductor/pianist for Leslie Uggams, and did a concert-tour in Italy with Amanda McBroom & George Ball. Mary has worked with Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Holliday, Clay Aiken, Connie Francis, James Naughton, Larry Gatlin, Charles Strouse, John Kander & Fred Ebb, Sheldon Harnick, Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones, Marni Nixon, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Barbara Cook, Lonny Price, Shirley Jones, Martin Vidnovic, Sandy Duncan, Bruce Vilanche, The Diamonds, Lillias White, Adrian Zmed, Charo, Suzanne Kiechle, Cathy Rigby, The Irish Tenors, The Syracuse Symphony, and many, many others.

Mary has taught at New York University, Mannes College of Music, Fordham University, Pace University, Musical Theater Works Conservatory, Syracuse University, SUNY Cortland, Colgate University, Circle in the Square Conservatory, Montgomery College and many other places; teaching classes in musical theater performance, scene study, and audition technique. She also played keyboards for the national tours of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Full Monty, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, The King and I, The Producers, Peter Pan, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sweet Charity, Annie, Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Elton John’s Aida.

Mary is now in the Washington, D.C. area, where she has worked for The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Arena Stage, Signature Theatre, Ford’s Theatre, Studio Theatre, the D.C. Cabaret Network, Washington Savoyards, American Century Theater, Montgomery College, and other venues. She also played for The Kennedy Center’s productions of Broadway: Three Generations and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Studio Theatre’s production of Adding Machine, and Arena Stage’s production of Oklahoma.

  Alyssa Wilmoth is new to the DC theatre world, having made her debut performance in No Rules Theatre Co.'s production of Stop Kiss directed by Holly Twyford. Before moving to the area, a little over a year ago, to receive her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy for Classical Acting , she was living in New York city performing Off-Broadway and touring in shows that took her through the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. She performed extensively with the American Shakespeare Center, and also taught may workshops on Shakespeare to high schools and universities around the country. She is a certified Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors and holds high honors in Unarmed, Dagger, Single Sword, and Rapier & Dagger. She is so pleased to be working with Adventure Theatre and looks forward to the epic battles that shall ensue!!!
